Farhad Hussain
Farhad Hussain (b. 1975, Jamshedpur, India) is a contemporary Indian artist celebrated for his vibrant, narrative paintings that delve into the complexities of human relationships. After earning a B.Sc. in 1996, he pursued his passion for art, completing a B.F.A. in Painting from Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan in 2003, followed by a Post Diploma in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Baroda in 2005 .
Hussain’s distinctive style is characterized by the meticulous application of color in a dot-by-dot technique, creating dynamic compositions that blend elements of Indian miniature, Kalighat, and Japanese art. His works often feature flat, bright color fields with intricate textile patterns, portraying scenes of everyday life infused with humor and irony . Recognized for his talent, he received the Nasreen Mohamedi Scholarship in 2004 and was the runner-up for the India Habitat Centre’s ‘Most Promising Artist’ award in 2006 . Hussain has exhibited widely, including solo shows at Sarjan Art Gallery, Vadodara (2005), and Vadehra Art Gallery, Delhi (2008), and his works have been featured in international art fairs and auctions, reflecting his significant presence in the contemporary art scene .
